In the spirit of Christmas this year, we thought we’d do something big.
At Fat Matt Roofing, we get to meet people all over Abilene. We really believe in connecting with the community and getting to know our neighbors. This year, we wanted to return some of the kindness we’ve been shown by this community.
Earlier this month, one of our neighbors contacted us for an estimate to replace her roof. After visiting the property, we saw that the roof was in very bad shape and needed to be totally replaced. Leaving the roof the way it was would have been dangerous and unsafe.
However, when we met with this customer to let her know the bad news about her roof, we learned that she was disabled, living on a fixed income, and wouldn’t be able to afford to replace her roof. The more we learned about her, the more we knew that we couldn’t just walk away from this situation.
That’s when the idea hit. Maybe we didn’t have to walk away at all.
We contacted our suppliers and came up with a plan to replace her roof for free. When they heard about the woman’s situation, our shingle manufacturer – CertainTeed – and our supply house – West End – agreed to donate all of the materials needed for the job. It’s situations like this that remind us how thankful we are to work with the kind of partners who are willing to step up to help us help a neighbor in need.
So for Christmas this year, we were able to give someone the gift of a new, high-quality roof at no cost. For all of us here at Fat Matt Roofing, making a difference in the communities we serve is one way we can show our appreciation to our customers.
Being involved in the community and giving back is core to who we are. It’s just the way we do business. We are so thankful for the opportunity to help our neighbors, and we can’t wait to continue to serve our community in the years to come.
